SUMMARY:CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT AND SPILLAGE CONTROL
DESCRIPTION:Introduction:\nChemicals are used to some degree at nearly every workplace from industrial plants\, to laboratories\, to agriculture\, to maintenance functions\, and even in office environments. Whether chemicals are added as part of a production process\, used to clean or lubricate equipment\, or exist as the byproduct of some other action\, they can pose a hazard to workers. Some are highly corrosive or toxic. Others are flammable\, may oxidize quickly\, or may react with other substances to create a deadly situation. \nWhen chemicals are stored or handled properly\, the inherent risk is minimized. But if something goes wrong and a chemical is spilled\, appropriate action must be taken immediately to prevent injury to workers and others\, and to minimize the potential damage to other materials and facilities. \nThe best way to deal with a chemical spill is to avoid having one in the first place. The key is to follow proper procedures for storing\, transferring\, handling\, using\, and disposing of chemicals. All workers on at workplace should be trained to recognize the hazards and proper procedures associated with every chemical they may encounter\, including the actions they need to take when a spill occurs. OSHA 1994 and Environmental Quality Act 1974 and its related-regulations clearly state that the employees have the ‘right-to-know’ on chemicals used and scheduled wastes generated\, the hazard/risk posed to them\, identify the point of use /discharge and how to handle them. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nTo have proper knowledge in safe management of chemicals at workplace;\nTo understand hazards & risks associated in chemical usage; and\nHow to react to a Chemical Spill Emergency Response.\n\nTarget Group:\nSafety and Health Committee Members\, Emergency Response Team (ERT) Members\, Chemical Handlers\, Safety & Health Officer\, Department Supervisors\, Facilities Members. \n  \n \nDownload Brochure & Registration Form

SUMMARY:FIRST AID AT WORKPLACE
DESCRIPTION:Introduction:\nFirst aid at workplace aims to give a more comprehensive coverage on the understanding and practical guidance as well as the theoretical aspects of first aid to the volunteers and the public based on the concept of prevention. When someone becomes ill or injured\, there is usually a short period of time before you can get professional medical assistance. It is that length of time that is most critical to the victim. What you do\, or don’t do during that period of time can make the difference between life and death. It has been shown that proper initial handling of the accident victims contributes significantly to the final outcome and often determines if a life could be saved. This program will impart the basic practical knowledge of First Aid and CPR. \nLearning Objectives:\n  \nBy the end of this program\, participants should be able to: \n\nRespond to emergencies safely;\nUnderstand basic first aid principles and its procedures;\nTo recognize\, assess and support the most common emergencies until professional help arrives;\nBe aware of the importance of proper safety procedures; and\nIdentify common injuries at the work place and how to deal with them.\n\nWho Should Attend:\nOSH Practitioners; Security Managers and Personnel; Human Resource Managers and Personnel; Safety and Health Committee Members; Emergency Response Team Members; All levels of employees and interested individuals. \n  \n \nDownload Brochure & Registration Form

SUMMARY:UNDERSTANDING LETTERS OF CREDIT & BANKER’S ACCEPTANCE FOR COST EFFECTIVE TRADE FINANCING
DESCRIPTION:Introduction:\nDocumentary credits\, also commonly known as letters of credit (LC)\, are often used for settlement of international trade transactions. While the seller takes comfort that the issuing bank provides an undertaking to honour payment upon presentation of documents that are in strict compliance with the terms and conditions of the LC\, more often than not the seller is unable to fully comply with the terms and conditions of the LC either through circumstances that are beyond his control or due to lack of understanding of international rules governing LC which are technical. It is often costly for the seller when discrepancies are detected as apart from no longer enjoying the issuing bank’s undertaking to honour payment\, discrepancy fees are imposed and there is a delay in payment as the issuing bank contacts the buyer to accept the discrepancies.  In extreme situations\, it may lead to buyer requesting for a huge discount or even non-payment. \nWhile letters of credit are preferred for settlement of international trade transactions as it is the next best alternative to advance payment\, Bankers Acceptances (BA) has emerged over the years as a low cost trade financing instrument which enable manufacturers and traders to remain competitive in the international and domestic market. \nThis two-day program will enable participants to understand the mechanics of documentary credits\, resolution of potential issues in the operation of credits\, the protection given to each of the parties and the use of bankers acceptances as a cost effective trade financing instrument to provide manufacturers and traders with a competitive edge. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the end of this program\, participants would be able to: \n\nHave an understanding of the operation of documentary credits;\nIdentify the key issues in the letter of credit transactions;\nExplain documentary credit operation;\nBe aware of the existence of international rules and practice governing documentary credits\, i.e. Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600) and International Standard Banking Practice for examination of documents under UCP 600 (ISBP 745);\nSolve the practical problems and find ways to overcome the problems in the credit transactions;\nHave an understanding of how to use special documentary credits;\nAvoid being a victim of fraud in documentary credit transactions;\nBe aware of eligible trade finance transactions for BA financing;\nUnderstand the features and conditions for BA financing;\nUnderstand and comply with Guidelines on Bankers Acceptances that are issued by Bank Negara Malaysia;\nUse BA as a cost effective financing instrument.\n\nWho Should Attend:\nManufacturers\, Traders\, Exporters\, Importers\, Finance Managers\, Sales Managers\, Marketing Managers and their staff those who are interested to enhance their knowledge in LC and BA. \n  \n \nDownload Brochure & Registration Form

SUMMARY:Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
DESCRIPTION:Introduction:\nSince its introduction into U.S. industry\, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) has generated widespread interest as means of improving reliability\, avoiding costs and shortening lead times. FMEA’s appeal lies in its versatility: Its principles and techniques can be applied to virtually any product or process\, making it a valuable tool for companies in any industry. \nAn FMEA can be described as a systematic group of activities intended to recognize and evaluate the potential failure of a product/process and the effects of the failure\, identify actions that could eliminate or reduce the chance of the potential failure occurring\, and document the entire process. It is complementary to the process of defining what a design or process must do to satisfy the customer. \nBecause of the general trend industry to continually improve products and processes whenever possible\, using the FMEA as disciplined techniques to identify and help minimize potential concern is as important as ever. One of the most important factors for the successful implementation of an FMEA program is timeliness. It is meant to be a “before-the-event” action\, not an “after-the-fact” exercise. To achieve greatest value\, the FMEA must be done before a product or process failure mode has been incorporated into a product or process. Up-front time spent properly completing an FMEA\, when product/process changes can be most easily and inexpensively implemented\, will minimize late change crises. An FMEA can reduce or eliminate the chance of implementing a preventive/corrective change that would create even large concerns. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the end of this training session\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (4th. Edition released on 28 June 2008);\nExplain how FMEA helps improve reliability\, cost and lead time;\nIdentify the 3 stages of “Bathtub Curve” and types of failures they represent;\nExplain and illustrate the purpose of Design\, Process and Service FMEAs;\nUse and practice appropriate FMEAs at workplace.\n\nTarget Group:\nManagers and Engineers from Production and Quality Departments. Statistician\, Purchasing and Marketing executives will also find this course relevant to their job function. \n  \n \nDownload Brochure & Registration Form
